Over the past two weeks we have seen deer on the drive home each day. The least was 8 one day but we have been in the teens every other day with 17 being the most. Thursday we saw 13 that ended with three in our south pasture along with a 200-250 pound boar hog that wouldn't wait around long enough for me to get out of the truck and take his picture. Must be camera shy. yesterday was also 13 with a Blue Heron standing in the water of one of the creaks flowing after last weeks rains.
How the heck do they know hunting season is over?

I've a friend who hails from Ne. He told me of a wildlife game preserve, across a road from open field - hunting territory. He said you could see teaming wildlife on the protected side of the road. They know.
ReplyDeleteI guess I should mention that the right side of the County Road we take is no hunting zone part of power plant cooling lake reserve area.
ReplyDeleteDonno but they do, we get them in the yard year round....EXCEPT for hunting season. This year saw one not two days before opening day, and less than a week after the last day of the season.
ReplyDeleteSo, when did you start hunting Blue Heron? ;-) I reckon they taste like bald eagle?
ReplyDeleteActually they taste a lot like spotted owl with a little more of a tangy taste.
ReplyDeleteThere's no season on the piggies, though!
ReplyDeleteBoom! Bacon!
